Fluorite, also known as fluorspar, is a colourful halide mineral made of calcium fluoride (CaF₂). Ranking 4 on the Mohs hardness scale, it forms cubic or octahedral crystals in purple, green, yellow, and blue. It is a major industrial source of fluorine and is used in metallurgy, optics, and clean-energy tech.
